The TOC & FFDF Official Event Doctor, Dr Annie Gibier, is on-site and has made the following recommendations to combat heat fatigue:
a) All participants should drink 3 litres of water each day. IN ADDITION players should try to drink 3 litres of water per game with 1gr of salt per litre. This is not a typo – an additional 3 litres PER GAME!
b) Avoid playing bare foot. There are a lot of players coming in with minor burns on their foot arch. The injury itself is minor, but can be very painful and affect your play.
c) All tap water in Royan is drinkable. This includes the taps at the fields, the beach, the town fountains and all green pumps. If you have any concerns, water that is not drinkable will say ‘eau non potable’.
The TOC has made 1g packets of salt available at the main marquees starting from this afternoon.
All players should be aware that the VC area in the main tent is closed, but a new tent behind the far endzone is selling merchandise today.
On Saturday and Sunday there are no special shuttle services to go to the airport from the Igesa accomodation or from Air France. Players should organise their own transport for these trips.
Buses to the party from Igesa and Air France will leave between 8.00pm and 9.30pm – several buses will be going back and forth between the locations.
Buses home from the party at the Congress Palace will leave between 1.00am and 2.00am, again with several buses shuttling back and forth.
Please don’t miss the bus, and have fun at the party!
Today is the last day for teams to collect their free Spikeball kits from the VC tent. Make sure you take advantage and pick yours up!
There are changes to two games at 9am tomorrow morning, and two at 10.10am.
The Philippines vs Canada Mixed semi-final was scheduled to be on pitch 1, while the USA vs Germany Mixed semi-final was scheduled to be on pitch 2. Those will be switched, so USA vs Germany will be on the arena pitch and Philippines vs Canada will be on pitch 2. Both games will still be streamed.
Similarly, the USA vs Canada Women’s semi-final that was scheduled for the arena field will now be on pitch 2, while the Great Britain vs Russia semi-final will be on the arena pitch. Again, both games will still be streamed.
The TOC can confirm that there will be no changes to the field locations for the Men’s semi-finals. Great Britain will play the Philippines on Field 3, while France will play United States on Field 1, in the arena. Both of these games will be streamed online – Field 1 will be on the WCBU Live website, and Great Britain vs Philippines will be on Fanseat.
There has been a field change for two quarter-finals at 5.10pm:Women’s Masters semi-final Canada vs Great Britain will now be on FIELD 3, NOT FIELD 1. Women’s quarter-final Great Britain vs France will now be on FIELD 1, NOT FIELD 3.
There are no other changes to other fields.

Round 4 (12h30) – MIXQ2 (the winner of RUS-ESP vs the winner of USA-IRL) will move to Field 1 and will be broadcast. MIXQ1 will move to Field 2 and will not be broadcast

Could all players and teams ensure that their bags are removed from the shaded areas once their games have finished in order to allow the next team on the pitch to use the area.
So far the site has been kept relatively rubbish-free by players using the bins located around the beaches for their trash. Please do continue to do so for the rest of the week.
